Most accounting software providers charge extra for inventory management. But Xero includes inventory tracking with every plan, even its $11 Early plan. That perk alone makes Xero a better fit than QuickBooks for eBay sellers who don’t want the hassle of finding a third-party inventory management system.

What does Xero have going for it besides its low starting price and thorough inventory tracking? Plenty, including these seller-friendly features:

  • Financial reports, including profit and loss reports (necessary for tax filing)
  • Online payment acceptance

We know that isn’t much—when we say the basics, we mean the basics. But if heftier accounting tools like Xero and Wave seem too complex, GoDaddy’s automated bookkeeping and simple dashboard can help you navigate your finances without weighing you down with extra steps.

Unfortunately, if you want GoDaddy’s bookkeeping software to sync with your eBay or Amazon seller account, you’ll have to buy the $9.99/mo. Essentials plan. Since this plan also includes tax forms and more in-depth financial reports, it’s a pretty solid deal. But since Xero offers these features (and more) for just one dollar more, we think GoDaddy’s best value is still in its $4.99 basic plan.

Like Xero, QuickBooks Online syncs effortlessly with your eBay account, plus dozens of other ecommerce apps. It also has a fantastic mobile accounting app that does everything the browser-based software does. No matter where you travel (as long as it’s with your favorite web-enabled device), you can perform these accounting tasks:

  • Mileage tracking
  • Quarterly tax estimation
  • Income, expense, and cash flow tracking

Unfortunately, QuickBooks’ thorough features come at a high price. At $25 a month, it’s the priciest on our list. You won’t get inventory management until the $70 a month Plus plan. Plus, to sync your QuickBooks and eBay accounts, you’ll need OneSaas by QuickBooks—which costs an extra $19 a month.

Best automation: Zoho Books

Zoho Books might start at $9 a month, but its features are comparable to those of pricier competitors like QuickBooks and FreshBooks:

Each Zoho plan also includes automatic workflows, or customized automations that shave time off your daily work schedule. (For instance, you can set Zoho to send you an alert if a sale is over a certain amount.) Workflows aren’t as helpful to individual eBay sellers as to larger sales teams, but they’re a unique enough perk for us to mention and you to explore.

Like Xero, Zoho Books’ plans have some built-in limitations. Its cheapest plan limits you to 50 customers (total, not per month). If you sell to more customers than that, you’ll need the $19 a month Standard plan. And if you want inventory management, you’ll have to sign up for Zoho Inventory, a separate product that also starts at $9 a month and brings your starting monthly price to $18 total. (For what it’s worth, though, Zoho Inventory handles eBay inventory remarkably well.)

While FreeAgent starts at $12 a month, the price goes up to $24 after the first six months. It also doesn’t have as many third-party integrations as Xero and QuickBooks: you might have to manually import more data.

Kashoo’s intuitive software learns your spending habits right off the bat, automating as many processes as possible to save you the most amount of time.

Kashoo takes just a few minutes to set up. As soon as you’re done, the software starts learning your business’s financial habits, generating contacts and categorizing your expenses to maximize tax deductions. Kashoo also creates more financial reports than many basic plans, including accounts receivable and payable.

But at $16.65 a month if you pay annually (or $19.95 if you pay monthly), Kashoo is at the higher end of our top picks for eBay sellers. And even at that price, you don’t get as many features as you do with Xero and FreshBooks, both of which are cheaper.

Best eBay-only software: Easy Auctions Tracker

If you’re searching for eBay-specific spreadsheet software, Easy Auctions Tracker has you covered. For a one-time $49.99 fee, you can sync your eBay account, track each item’s individual profit, and generate basic reports.

In contrast to the other providers on our list, Easy Auctions Tracker was built specifically for eBay bookkeeping. Once you sync the software with your eBay account, it automatically downloads your last month of sales. Next, it charts how much you’ve made on each individual item and calculates your business’s profitability as a whole.

Since Easy Auctions Tracker is basically elevated, eBay-specific spreadsheet software, it has far fewer features and much less tax assistance than our other providers. Still, if you want something short, sweet, and low cost that does a bit more than Google Sheets or Excel, Excel Auctions Tracker could be a good fit.
